About

I'm Polygon Soup, a multidisciplinary artist living in Paris, France, with a background in video and electronic music.
Lately I have been more and more interested in creative coding for visuals and sounds, and that led me to acquire a penplotter to experiment with.

What is a pen plotter?

A pen plotter is a very basic type of robot made to hold a pen in order to draw shapes supplied by an SVG file.
It has two axes, x and y, to move along the paper, and a third, z, to lift the pen up or down.
I started this because I wanted to learn to code, and playing with custom algorithms soon became an addictive practice.
The plotting process can last several hours or even days depending on the intricate complexity of the designs, number of layers of colors, etc.
Unlike a print, the act of plotting leads to unique results due to the inherent characteristics of the pens and papers, and the interaction between them.
The outcome is not perfect, and that in my opinion is what's so fascinating about that craft.

Here, I sell my plots in various formats. Most of the time I'm using a Rotring Isograph with black ink, and sometimes Faber-Castell Pitt artist pens or Stabilo when I'm using colors.

All the plots are single editions and are signed and delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
